Srinivasa Ramanujan Facts

1. Srinivasa Ramanujan was born in 22 December,1887 at Eurode Madras, Tamil Nadu.

2. K. Srinivas Iyengar was his father and Komalatammal was his mother.



3. His father kuppuswamy Srinivas Iyengar was from Tanjavur district and worked as a clerck in sari shop.

4. His mother Komalatammal was House wife and also sang at the temple.

5. Ramanujan contracted with smallpox in Dec,1889 but recovered.

6. Ramanujan was enrolled at the local school in Oct,1892.

7. He was awarded from K. Ranganatha Rao prize, when he graduated from Town Higher Secondary School in 1904.

8. He also ran away from home in August,1905 and stayed in Rajahmundry about a month.

9. Ramanujan married with Janaki on 14 July,1909.

10. On 2 May,1918 he was elected as the fellow of the Royal Society.

11. Number 1729 is known as Hardy Ramanujan number after famous visit by Hardy to see Ramanujan at hospital.

12. A film based on Kanigel's book , British actor Dev Patel portrays Ramanujan is 'The man who New Infinity ' in 2015.

13. A play ' Partition' by Ira Hauptman was first performed in 2013 about Hardy and Ramanujan.

14. He was also mentioned in 1997 film 'God Will Hunting'.

15. Ramanujan was suffering from Tuberculosis disease and died at the age of 32 in1920.

16. After his death his brother Tirunarayanan compiled Ramanujan's remaining notes.
