1. Maqbool Fida Husain was born on 17th September 1915 in in Pandharpur town of Maharashtra.

2. He is is one of the most famous artist of India both at the national as well as international level.

3. Due to huge popularity of his paintings that maqbool Fida Husain was once called as the " Picasso " of India by the forbes magazine.

4. MF Hussain lost his mother II II when he was only one and half years old.

5. After sometime later his father remarried and moved to the Indore city.

6. Maqbool completed his earlier studies from Indore city.

7. He moved to Bombay in 1935 and took admission into Sir J.J school of art.

8. M.F. Hussain started his painting career as a painter of cinema hoardings.

9. It was only in the 1940 that his work started getting some recognition. in the year 1947 , he joined  the progressive artist's group. Which was founded by Francis Newton souza.

10. Slowly and gradually Hussain timed the ladder of success to become one of the highest paid painters of India.

11. Recently a single Canvas of M.F Hussain fetched 2 million dollars at a christle's auction.

12. Sometime back Hussain started directing and producing movies also.

13. His movies include Gaja Gamini ( with Madhuri Dikshit ) and Meenakshi : A tale of three cities ( with Tabu ).

14. His film 'through the eyes of a painter' was shown at the Berlin film festival and won a golden wear also.

15. The autobiography of M.F. Hussain is being made into a movie , which has been tentatively titled as 'the making of the painter: recognition.

16. The first solo exhibition of M.F. Husain was held at zeurich in the year 1952 over the next few years , his paintings were widely appreciated in Europe and USA.

17. The Government of India awarded him the prestigious Padma Shri.

18. He was also been awarded the padam Bhushan.

19. The Government of India also appointed maqbool Fida Husain to a term in the rajya sabha. In recognition of his contribution of art.

20. Maqbool Fida Hussain died on 9 June, 2011 at the age of 95 in London , due to heart attack.
